Two guys. One IT company. Zero impulse control.
In 2006, two friends worked at a top IT company — and got fired for playing practical jokes on their colleagues. Tape over the optical mouse. Office chairs glued to the floor. Video conference cameras blacked out with marker pen.
Jobless, broke and unreasonably pleased with themselves, they combined their two passions — fashion and hi-jinx — and Tokyo Nerd was born. A full collection was designed. A presentation was made. Buyers in London called it "bold, ironic and very, very funny."
There was just one problem: in 2006, making t-shirts meant ordering thousands from a factory far away. Too much risk, too little sense. So the whole thing went into a drawer.
Twenty years later, the phone rang. The world had caught up. Nerd culture won. Print on demand exists. The drawer is open again.
20 YEARS TOO EARLY — NOW RIGHT ON TIME
